Some Good Books
5 11 2009
Have you ever picked up a book and not been able to it down? Well, I have. It would have to be pretty great book to not being able to stop reading. A book that I recommend you read is The Hobbit.
I started to read it a long long time ago and I’m still not done it. But that’s only because I lost it for the longest time and I just started to get back into it probably a month ago and I’m almost done it. If you like adventure, and exciting genres in a book then you should think about reading The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.
If you read The Hobbit you would have to read The Lord of the Rings too. It is also by J.R.R. Tolkien, just because the Hobbit is like the very first Lord of the Rings they are all related in a way. That’s why when I’m done reading The Hobbit I’m probably going to read The Lord of the Rings.
But the Hobbit is about mostly one Hobbit named Bilbo setting out on a journey with a bunch of dwarfs to try and get back their gold. But the gold is guarded by the evil dragon named Smaug. The book is pretty long and the writing is small, but once you get into it you’ll just zip through it.
My guess is after your done The Hobbit you will probably want to read The Lord of the Rings. For Lord of the Rings there are also movies for all three books, I have seen them all. That’s just the problem though… I saw the movies before reading the books. If you like fantasy and adventure books you should read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Hi Savannah,
I remember reading The Hobbit a long time ago, and re-reading the parts of the novel that described Bilbo’s house. I seem to be fascinated by the idea of an underground house. When I saw the movie Lord of the Rings, I was surprised by how much the Shire in my mind looked like the Shire in the movie. How about you? Does the movie match your imagination?
@Ms.S
Yes, the movie does match My mind. And I think it would be cool to live in a hill in the ground. Because in the movie inside Bolbo’s house looks really cool and cozy. If the Shire was a real place and if I was small enough to fit inside a Hobbit hole I would want to live in the shire.
I love The Hobbit! It is one of my favorite books. I read it in the first week of school because I didn’t really have anything else to do. Once I finished it I wanted to keep reading The Lord of The Rings books, so I set out to the mall to the bookstore that is in it and bought all 3 of them! I’m only a quarter done The Fellowship of The Ring, but it since it is such a good book I can’t stop reading it!
I haven’t actually seen the movies, I plan to sometime after I finish reading the books(I’ve only seen parts of the movies, not the whole thing). I believe I saw the begginging of the Fellowship when they are still in Hobbiton and It’s Bilbo’s and Frodo’s birthday, but then I got bored so I stopped watching it.
